Gatwick Airport has two terminals North and South Terminal.
The South Terminal is used by a variety of airlines, while the North Terminal is mainly used by British Airways and Delta Airlines. The two terminals are connected by a free "transit" monorail (light railway), the trip between the terminals takes about five minutes, the service runs at the same interval, anyone with time to spare can freely take the transit and explore the other terminal, both terminals have numerous shops, exchange bureaux, ATMs, airport information desks, duty-free outlets, restaurants and bars etc.
All these are found on the first floor of the South and North Terminals, the South Terminal is the biggest area called Gatwick Village.
South Terminal has an adjacent medical centre in Ashdown House offering immunisations.

The M23 motorway (freeway) runs close to Gatwick Airport.
From Junction 9 of the motorway take the signposted slip road west and follow the signs to each terminal.
The two terminals are reached via separate entrances from the same road, if you end up at the wrong terminal you can jump on the free transit shuttle train to quickly cross to the other terminal.

The M23 motorway runs north to intersect with the M25 motorway which circles London, north of the M25 intersection the M23 changes to a normal road towards London, because of traffic congestion and parking problems, plus the difficulty of navigation, its not advisable without local knowledge, to drive inside the M25 area, especially not into central London.
The M23 also runs south towards the seaside town of Brighton, changing few miles south from a motorway to dual carriageway.

All traffic drive on the left hand side of the road, visitors from North America should be prepared for roundabouts which are very common in UK, in Britain roundabouts must always be driven in a clockwise direction.
When entering a roundabout you must give way to traffic which is already on the roundabout.
Also remember that you cannot turn right or left on a red light in United Kingdom.

Remember that rental cars in the UK are nearly all manual shift transmission, although we have automatic cars available for reservation.
